Plenary session: State Parliament discusses the Union's five-point migration plan
The Brandenburg state parliament is debating the controversial five-point plan of the Union in the Bundestag. The AfD faction is submitting the five demands for a stricter migration policy as its own motion. It wants to test the behavior of the coalition of the SPD and BSW as well as the CDU opposition. The motion is part of a current affairs session by the AfD on the consequences of the federal election for Brandenburg. The CDU is responding with its own initiative in which it calls on the state government to implement the five points.
In January, the AfD and the FDP voted in favor of the CDU/CSU's motion for a stricter migration policy in the Bundestag. This sparked widespread social protests. Among other things, the motion calls for the rejection of asylum seekers at the German border. In September, shortly before the state elections, Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) called for the rejection of refugees who want to enter Germany via safe third countries.
The state parliament is also discussing how to deal with the consequences of a corona vaccination. The CDU parliamentary group is calling for the establishment of a special outpatient clinic for people affected by so-called post-vaccine syndrome and the establishment of a nationwide support network. These people suffer from long-term symptoms after a corona vaccination. The AfD parliamentary group is also pushing for the establishment of a special outpatient clinic.
