US stock markets were mixed on Wednesday.

At the end of trading in New York, the Dow was calculated at 43,433 points, a loss of 0.4 percent compared to the previous trading day. A few minutes earlier, the broader S&P 500 was up 0.1 percent at around 5,960 points, while the technology exchange Nasdaq calculated the Nasdaq 100 to be 0.2 percent stronger at around 21,133 points at the same time. Investors were eagerly awaiting the quarterly figures from chip designer and AI hopeful Nvidia on Wednesday. At the same time, comments by US President Donald Trump on his tariff policy were once again in focus.

The Republican announced that he would soon impose tariffs of 25 percent on products from the EU. Critics warn of negative consequences of this tariff policy for the economy and the development of inflation. The European common currency was weaker on Wednesday evening: one euro cost 1.0486 US dollars, and one dollar was therefore available for 0.9537 euros. The price of gold showed little change, with 2,917 US dollars being paid for a troy ounce in the evening. This corresponds to a price of 89.43 euros per gram. Meanwhile, the price of oil fell: a barrel of the North Sea Brent variety cost 72.75 US dollars on Wednesday evening around 10 p.m. German time, which was 27 cents or 0.4 percent less than at the end of the previous trading day.
