Spain: German tourism in the Balearic Islands is weakening

Palma de Mallorca. German tourism to the Balearic Islands has declined – despite the overall upswing in the tourism sector there. From January to September 2025, a total of approximately 16.6 million tourists visited the holiday islands of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera.
This represents a 2.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year, as reported by the newspaper "Diario de Mallorca," citing statistics from Spain and the Balearic Islands. However, the number of German tourists fell by almost two percent. British tourists saw a slight decrease of 0.64 percent.
More than 13.7 million tourists from abroad visited the Balearic Islands between January and September 2025. Almost 3 million of these tourists came from the rest of Spain. The "Diario de Mallorca" did not provide absolute figures for German tourists.
