236 migrants rescued from a cayuco adrift 232 miles south of Gran Canaria

Early this Sunday morning, Maritime Rescue carried out the rescue of 236 migrants who were traveling in a cayuco located on Saturday while drifting , without a motor , 232 miles south of Gran Canaria .
According to the state agency, the alert was received yesterday morning, when the National Maritime Rescue Center was notified by the ship Teos , which had detected the presence of a boat stopped alongside , occupied by a large number of people .
The Teos vessel secured the canoe with a rope and requested assistance, deeming it unsafe to carry out further maneuvers. The vessel, without an engine, remained adrift .
Faced with this situation, the Las Palmas Maritime Rescue Center activated the Urania lifeguard , which at 2:15 a.m. this Sunday managed to rescue the 236 occupants of the cayuco, all of them of sub-Saharan origin , among whom were men, women and children.

The Urania boat is currently sailing toward the port of Arguineguín , where it is expected to arrive with the rescued victims on board around 3:15 p.m. this Sunday.
