A person who hasn't bought their iPhone 17 yet reports that it's already scratched.

Scratched Window.- A Mexican man angrily reported on social media that his iPhone 17 already has scratches... even though he hasn't bought it yet.
The young man, who describes himself as "anti-consumerism," reported that when he approached the device at an Elektra counter, it already had scratches on the screen, even though it was still in its box.

"I didn't even touch it, I just looked at it, and suddenly it got scratched. It's like Apple is preemptively charging me for dreaming of owning it," said the affected person, who for now is considering sticking with his trusted Oppo.
Noticing that the phone he had yet to purchase already had scratches on both the screen and the casing, the almost unsuspecting man decided to invest in some much-needed underwear instead.

Apple, for its part, clarified that this is not a defect, but rather a "new aesthetic feature" called PatinaPro , designed to give the device "a vintage and exclusive look" from day one. Added to this is the battery life of just three hours, which will make consumers feel like they're living in a premium dystopian world.
“ Our devices are made from the same material they make butter from, and we do everything for a reason,” Tim Cook said, trying to minimize complaints from users around the world.
Some suspect that if the iPhone 17 comes scratched from the factory, Apple will likely announce that the iPhone 18 will arrive “improved and scratch-free,” triggering a stampede of loyal buyers willing to spend again on the “evolution.”
