A van with 4,875 liters of fuel to supply drug boats in Huelva was seized

The Civil Guard has seized a van that was travelling through the Huelva town of Isla Cristina with a total of 195 containers with 4,875 litres of fuel to supply drug boats on the coast of the province of Huelva .
According to a statement issued by the Armed Institute, the events occurred in the early hours of Tuesday. Agents from Citizen Security and Fiscal and Borders who were working in Pozo del Camino identified the driver of a van that seemed to be driving overloaded.
The inspection of the vehicle revealed a large number of gas cylinders inside, the origin of which the driver could not prove nor have a permit for their transport and storage. The driver has therefore been investigated for a crime against public safety and both the gas cylinders and the vehicle have been seized.
The Civil Guard recalls that on February 14, more than 3,200 liters of fuel were seized in the towns of Punta Umbría and Cartaya as part of the actions to eradicate logistical support networks for drug trafficking.
The Armed Institute stresses that this type of fuel is highly flammable and if appropriate safety measures are not taken for its storage and transport, it can pose a serious danger to people with the possibility of fire and even explosion, in addition to health problems caused by the vapours emanating from these fuels.
