According to a report, 3.5 minimum wages are needed to live in Córdoba

A " Purchasing Power of Salaries " report by the Ombudsman of the Province of Córdoba revealed that the Minimum, Vital and Mobile Salary (SMVM) represented in January 2025 only 28.86% of the cost of the Total Basic Basket (CBT) prepared by the agency.

Latest reportThe SMVM was set for January 2025 at $286,711, while the value of the CBT (which includes food and other non-food expenses) reached $993,399 in the same month, which implies that 3.5 SMVM are needed to cover said basket .
Basic Food BasketIn January, the SMVM recovered some ground, but is still far behind the cost that a family must face to buy food. Thus, the CBA reached $435,701 in the first month of the year, so the official salary only covered 65.80% of said expense .
Deputy Ombudsman Carlos Galoppo said that " the incipient recovery of wages observed in the last three months is still insufficient to compensate for the strong loss of purchasing power experienced in the last year ."
"This prevents families from meeting their most basic needs, including the purchase of food, with their monthly income," added the head of the Ombudsman's Office of the Province of Córdoba.

In the last five years, the SMVM has lost significant purchasing power. During this period, the CBA increased by 2,818.09%, while the official salary indicator increased by 1,599.03%.
In January 2020, the SMVM was sufficient to cover the food needs of a typical household. It was then set at $16,875, with a CBA that required $14,931.
