Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, star of 'Gossip Girl' and 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', dies

Los Angeles - CET
Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, star of series such as Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer , has died at the age of 39. This was announced exclusively on Wednesday by the gossip newspaper The New York Post . The cause of her death, which occurred in her New York apartment, located near the Columbus Circle area, is currently unknown and is not being investigated as a violent crime, according to the same newspaper that reported the news. The report published by ABC News claims that it was her mother who found the actress's body. Sources close to the aforementioned media explain that she had recently undergone a liver transplant and that “she could have been experiencing complications”, which is why it is believed that she died of natural causes.
In recent months, the actress had been the subject of criticism for the worrying posts she shared on her social networks, where she could be seen looking worse for wear. She was quick to defend herself: “Explain to me why you see me sick. Did you lose the calendar and not realize that I'm not 14? I'm 38. How sad that you left a comment like that.” At the time, her followers pointed out that they were not criticizing her appearance, but that they were “concerned” about her. On Instagram, where she has more than 800,000 followers, she has been active sharing images of her professional career until seven days ago.

Trachtenberg began her career at just five years old in episodes of Law & Order , and was a well-known youth star for roles in television series and youth films. Her first big role was in the series The Adventures of Pete & Pete, with a dozen episodes, in the mid-90s, but her first leading role was in Harriet, the Spy , in 1996. In addition, she made films that many millennials will remember, such as Dreaming, Dreaming... I Succeeded Skating . In Buffy the Vampire Slayer she achieved fame as Dawn Summers for more than 60 episodes, the same as in the almost 30 of Gossip Girl where she was Georgina Sparks, a role that she reprised in a couple of episodes of the new batch of the series, released in 2022. That was her last role.
