Audit results of Simas Rural are reviewed, it presents liabilities for more than 270 million pesos

The Intermunicipal Water and Sanitation System, or Simas Rural, is working with red numbers and has significant liabilities that have been growing for many years for various reasons, including the high cost of electricity consumption, said José Antonio Gutiérrez Jardón, recently appointed general manager.
The official said that if he looks at it coldly, the organization, which covers the municipalities of Torreón, Matamoros and Viesca, "does not have the capacity to pay those liabilities it has."
He commented that since last Monday he began to have meetings with the managers of each of the Simas areas to review the status, in addition to the fact that yesterday he would meet with the Secretariat of Oversight and Accountability (SEFIRC) to see the results of the audit that The agency was asked to do so after liabilities of more than 270 million pesos were detected, including debts with the CFE and suppliers. .
"And these results do not mean that they are final because they still have to resolve things. I spoke with the administrative part of the system here and I think there is a lot to resolve but they have a certain amount of time to submit documentation and once that is ready, then they can take action," he commented.
He mentioned that those who preceded him in the position are responsible for handling the audit and therefore, they have to resolve the corresponding observations.
The official said that for now, he is focused on how to make the system more efficient in terms of collection, viability and lower maintenance costs, looking for supplier options and preparing to deal with the hot season.
Gutiérrez Jardón said that his task is to review the different departments of Simas Rural and look for areas of opportunity to try to optimize natural resources and make the system, which has more than 150 employees, more efficient. For now, no layoffs are being considered, since he first needs to thoroughly understand the operation.
The general manager indicated that there are around 50 thousand registered users in the Intermunicipal Water and Sanitation System, but there are about 30 thousand active users.
