Coahuila: Claudia Sheinbaum inaugurates ISSSTE High Specialty Hospital in Torreón

TORREÓN, COAH.- President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo , accompanied by Governor Manolo Jiménez, inaugurated the new ISSSTE Regional High Specialty Hospital, which represented an investment of 3.5 billion pesos , to provide service to more than 1.2 million beneficiaries in Coahuila, Durango and Chihuahua.
This tertiary clinic will offer 36 specialty services, in addition to oncology treatment using state-of-the-art equipment, such as a linear accelerator, which will prevent patients from having to be transferred to other states or even to Mexico City.

Likewise, the medical unit, built on an 8-hectare area of the El Águila community, has eight operating rooms, 12 elevators, and a helipad.
Sheinbaum Pardo mentioned that it's not just about building a hospital, but also about ensuring it operates properly, which is why ISSSTE services need to be provided once again in its own facilities and not in fragments elsewhere.
"Most countries where there are better working conditions for all health care workers will function better," he added.
He said the goal is for the people of Mexico to have the best healthcare services, and he assured that this is gradually being achieved.
THERE IS WILL: MANOLO JIMÉNEZ
Coahuila Governor Manolo Jiménez acknowledged that with each visit by President Sheinbaum, there is good news for the state, with the commitments she made as a candidate and fulfilled as President.
The president greeted the doctors, nurses, and the entire team at the new hospital, as teamwork across the three levels of government always yields superior results and achieves great things; this hospital is proof of that.
"There's a major investment from the federal government here, but there's also intervention from the state and municipal governments. Thanks to this, more than 350,000 beneficiaries in Coahuila will have access to this hospital, which will provide them with better health," he said.
“When it comes to health in Coahuila, strengthening the ISSSTE and IMSS is important, because more than 75 percent of Coahuila residents are beneficiaries of these institutions; therefore, the more they are strengthened, the better the health care will be,” emphasized Manolo Jiménez.
1,780 HEALTH PROFESSIONALS WILL ATTEND
For her part, Margarita Martínez Guerrero , director of the new hospital, said that today is a day she will hold dear to her heart, because just over a year ago this hospital was just a project, but behind that plan there was an urgent and clear need: that of the beneficiaries.
A staff of 1,780 health professionals will serve 1.2 million beneficiaries.
Martí Batres , director of ISSSTE, noted that the old hospital only had 91 census beds, so the jump is significant now with 250. There will also be another 235 non-census beds.
Batres also said that there will be 18 chemotherapy units and the most modern linear accelerator in the country.
The director of ISSSTE stated that the rescue of the institution began during Andrés Manuel López Obrador's presidency with the nationalization of privatized equipment and the construction of new hospitals.
Batres also said that sales at ISSSTE stores have increased by 105 percent, and the one in Saltillo has seen a 215 percent increase .
