The Generation of Masks from the UNAM Faculty of Letters, in the late 1940s, transcended the literary history of 20th-century Mexico. Emilio Carballido , Luisa Josefina Hernández , Sergio Magaña , Rosario Castellanos , Jorge Ibargüengoitia , and Jaime Sabines were among them. They paved the way for playwriting, novels, and poetry in mid-20th-century Mexico.
