In an election year, Rodríguez Larreta launched: “I'm back”

“I’m back.” With these words, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta announced his return to his political career, which led him, among other positions, to become head of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and former presidential candidate of the PRO.
The leader's launch came with strong criticism of Jorge Macri's current administration in the Federal Capital.
After pointing out that he walks around the city every day, which he managed for eight years, he said: “On these walks, I listen to all the neighbors who approach me.” “I ask them how they see the city, how things are. Time and again they confirm what we all perceive: THE CITY IS NOT WELL. Buenos Aires is no longer what it used to be. It is time to say it and accept it. The only way to solve a problem is to start by recognizing it,” said Rodríguez Larreta.
After summarizing his management at the head of the City, there was also a blow for Mauricio Macri: “Unfortunately, the PRO has lost its identity. The knowledge of who we are, why we are here, why we do what we do and what we are for and against. The day you lose your identity, you lose everything,” he reflected.
On that point, he was blunt: “I was and am against handing over the PRO to Milei, I said it from day one. That is why I was not part of the current leadership of the party. The PRO should have constructively exercised its role as opposition. That is why they voted for us,” he stressed. Rodriguez Larreta had obtained 11% of the votes in the 2023 PASO elections.
Strongly at odds with Milei, he claimed to be “against fanaticism, messianic leadership and ideological extremism. We have always been against aggression and insults. And, above all, we have always defended the right to think differently. We have always claimed public office and good politics as tools for change. I know this for a very simple reason: I was one of the founders of the PRO.”
Although he did not define for which office he will run, Rodríguez Larreta gave clues: “I will be there, as a legislator, as a deputy or as a senator, to debate the city we deserve. The city we built together. The same one that is degraded today.”
“Our commitment is the same as always: we want to help the people of Buenos Aires live better. More than a candidacy or a party, it is time to move towards the future again,” he stressed. “That is why we are back. That is why I am back,” he concluded.
