The Israeli army announced on Wednesday an attack against a "significant" member of the Islamist movement Hezbollah in Lebanon.
"Recently, the [army] carried out a precise and intelligence-based strike against a senior Hezbollah terrorist from Unit 4400 in the Qasr region of northern Lebanon," the army said in a statement.

Lebanese national news agency NNA reported that "an enemy drone targeted a vehicle on the Hermel-Qasr road , leaving one dead and one wounded," in the northeast of the country.
The attack came after Israel carried out a similar operation the day before, which left two dead in eastern Lebanon, in the Janta region, NNA said. According to the Israeli army, the bombing targeted "Hezbollah terrorists" who "had been identified operating in a Hezbollah strategic weapons production and storage facility."
The military body said the activity detected at the site attacked on Tuesday constituted "a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement."

The Shiite movement was considerably weakened in this conflict, as Israel destroyed a large part of its arsenal and killed many of its leaders, isolating it on the Lebanese political scene.
After the deadline for withdrawing from southern Lebanon expired, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement, Israel maintained its presence at five "strategic" points on the border, which was denounced by Lebanon and Hezbollah.
