Russian boy abandoned in Coahuila in 2024 returns home

SALTILLO.- A Russian child abandoned in Coahuila seven months ago was finally reunited with his family and returned to his home country.
After seven months of work to clarify the identity of the three-year-old minor, as well as to resolve the corresponding legal matters, the repatriation was achieved.
The little boy was abandoned on July 22, 2024 in a hotel in Piedras Negras , Coahuila .
The National Migration Institute (INM) managed the repatriation of a three-year-old child who was abandoned in a Mexican hotel.
According to reports at the time, the child was found alone inside a room after constant crying alerted other guests.
Police entered the bedroom and found only the child, no adults, and the family's passports were also found.
A Russian couple rented the room on the same day that authorities found the minor alone.
The Attorney General's Office of the State of Coahuila carried out the corresponding investigations, but so far the parents have not been located.
The child was handed over to the INM and was subsequently placed in the custody of the Office for the Defense of Girls, Boys and the Family during the search for his parents.
After several months of investigation and with the collaboration of authorities from Russia, Dubai and Spain, the minor abandoned in Mexico was returned to his country of origin.
Accompanied by two Child Protection Officers and INM agents specialized in caring for migrant children, the three-year-old boy boarded a flight from Mexico , with a stopover in Barcelona , to Moscow .
In Moscow he was received by Russian authorities thanks to the support of the Russian Embassy in Mexico, “which expressed its gratitude to the Mexican authorities.”
"The INM confirmed that the boy was received in Moscow with the cooperation of the authorities of Russia and Dubai, where he was received by child protection officials from that country."
