Tajín sales drop to historic lows after Selena Gomez ad

Bittersweet Jalisco.- Tajín sales have fallen to historic lows following the recent advertisement in which Selena Gomez appears promoting the product.

What promised to be a historic collaboration between the multilingual actress and the chili powder brand ended up becoming a financial fiasco of reserved proportions, as people stopped buying the brand en masse.

FYI: The Rare Beauty x Tajín Cheek & Lip Set does NOT contain Tajín flavors or ingredients!

“We thought Mexicans loved the Selena who isn't Quintanilla,” said a businessman born in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, after seeing the initial sales figures.

“Selena Gomez has never eaten jicama with chili in her life,” one user complained.

According to data from the National Chamber of Chili Powder, the company's sales dropped 73% after the ad went viral on TikTok. Even in Guadalajara, Tajín's hometown, small shops report that people now prefer to buy bags of generic chili powder, the kind no one used to touch.

“It felt like my tongue started to burn, and I started speaking without conjugating my verbs properly,” revealed a woman who had been eating it all by herself, by the handful, since she was a child.

Other consumers have stated that, ever since Selena started advertising the product, their f*cking stomach started hurting, forcing the company to reconsider the collaboration with the virtuoso protagonist of Emilia Pérez .

And in case you missed it: A car crashed into a restaurant while some influencers were live-streaming, and it even seems like a divine sign.
