The capital confirms the new price of the Transport Pass: this is how it looks after the increase

On May 9, the Community of Madrid announced through the Official State Gazette (BOE) a price update that will apply starting today, July 1, to public transport passes in the Madrid region, slightly reducing the current discount on several passes.

This measure does not affect the free season ticket for those over 65, and, as one of the new features, extends free public transport in Madrid to children under 14.

Until yesterday, June 30, 2025, and since 2022, Madrid has been enjoying a 60% reduction in public transport fares. These subsidies were jointly assumed by the central government, with a 30% discount, and the Madrid government, with an additional 30%, although it was only required to assume 20%.

When do the Madrid transport pass fares change?

However, according to the update announced last May, this will change this Tuesday, July 1, 2025. This will implement a 50% discount on the fare for youth season tickets (ages 15 to 25), who will travel throughout the region for 10 euros per month.

Likewise, for monthly zone passes, that is, for users between 26 and 64 years old, a 40% discount is being established, instead of the 60% we have been enjoying for several years.

The latter indicates that the Madrid transport pass will increase in price for many people from now on. These are the official prices starting July 1, 2025:

30-day passes

Transport pass prices from July 1, 2025
  • Youth Pass (up to 26 years): 10.00 euros

  • Zone A: 32.70 euros

  • Zone B1: 38.20 euros

  • Zone B2: 43.20 euros

  • Zone B3/C1/C2: 49.20 euros

  • Zone E1: 66.30 euros

  • Zone E2: 79 euros

For our part, we remind you that public transport remains free for retirees (over 65 years old), children's passes (up to age 7), and youth passes for ages 7 to 14. Ten-ride passes for the Metro, EMT, and ML1 have increased their price to €7.30 due to the 40% discount. Until June 30, they cost €6.10.

They change from July 1st

As usual, despite these rate changes, additional discounts remain in place for large families in the general category, with a 20% discount, and for those with special conditions, a 50% discount. In the case of people with a disability of 65% or more, there is an additional 20% discount.
