This Tuesday afternoon, September 9th, the Colombian national team faced Venezuela in the 18th round of the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Although Néstor Lorenzo's team had already secured their qualification directly within the competition, the 'Vinotinto' players arrived on the field with the intention of entering the competition through the playoffs.

For its part, the 'Tricolor' was looking to earn points in this match to get closer to the top twelve teams on the FIFA list, with the goal of finishing top of their group for the World Cup draw.
However, beyond the table results, football fans' attention was focused on the teams' various plays, but especially on the quick changes in the score.

After referee Wilton Sampaio blew his whistle, the ball started rolling around the field, and within minutes Venezuela took the lead with the first goal of the afternoon , igniting both the stands and social media.

Other users, meanwhile, criticized some moments of the first half, where the Venezuelan team quickly surpassed the Colombians with their goals: "The 'Vinotinto' came out to devour the 'Tricolor'."

"Summary of the Colombia vs. Venezuela game," one social media user wrote. The post was also accompanied by a photo of 'Moe Szyslak,' referencing the first goals of the match.
Following the heart-stopping action that took place during the sporting event, some people confessed that at first they thought about not tuning in, but after watching the matches on digital platforms, they couldn't help but turn on the television to enjoy the quality of the soccer.

Although Colombia had a significant advantage over Venezuela at the end of the match, social media users compared the game to an "out-of-this-world" fight , which, for them, was not just the final match of the South American Qualifiers.
