Photos: Fisherman caught a strange fish with an 'alien head'

A Russian fisherman has gone viral for posting a creepy fish on social media, and many have said it looks like an alien, as it has a shape quite different from its species.
With a large, bulbous body resembling a brain, shrunken eyes and an open mouth, this fish looks like it's from another planet. The person in charge of revealing this photograph was Roman Fedortsov who caught it in a northern area of the Pacific Ocean and shared the image on his Instagram account where he has approximately 600,000 followers.
He identified it as Aptocyclus ventricosus, better known as the smooth lumpfish , a species of ray-finned marine fish found in the deep sea and measuring approximately 44 centimeters.
According to Fedortsov, this animal is usually found in the depths of the sea and being in shallow waters makes its body look more swollen than normal, which resulted in the alien appearance and what made it attract the attention of Internet users.

Roman works mainly on a fishing boat in the city of Murmansk, Russia, and it is not strange for him to find these types of marine animals and he is always posting them on his social networks.
Although he has found fish of all kinds, he had never come across one that looked like an alien and this has left many fishing enthusiasts surprised and wondering what other mysteries the depths of the ocean hide.
There was so much curiosity that one person named it 'Megamind' in honor of the cartoon villain played by Will Ferrell, who has a big head, and also compared it to 'The Dark Lord' from 'Harry Potter'.
On other occasions he has found dragon-like fish with yellow eyes, a prehistoric goblin shark, among others. Although many people ask him if he is not afraid of finding these types of creatures, for him it is normal, since he is used to dealing with these species.
As expected, the comments about the appearance of this fish were varied: “Yes, aliens are real,” “That is 100 percent alien,” “Are you cutting off alien heads to see them?” and “Is that a blobfish?”
