Prayers are requested for vallenato composer Iván Ovalle who will undergo delicate surgery

Vallenato has positioned itself over the years as one of the most representative genres of Colombian culture. However, some representatives have left, such as Jorge Oñate, Diomedes Díaz, Omar Geles, Luís Egurrola , among others.
Although many are no longer in this world, there are still important artists who continue to take this folklore to the top, such as Silvestre Dangond, Poncho Zuleta and Ivan Villazón.
In the last few hours, news has come out that has united fans of this genre in a chain of prayer, as one of its composers will undergo a delicate medical procedure.
Iván Ovalle will undergo colectomy surgery at the Santa Fe Foundation in Bogotá, and for this reason many colleagues and followers have expressed not only solidarity with the artist, but also ask for prayers so that everything goes well.
This news was confirmed by the Iván Ovalle Musical Organization, which expressed its gratitude for the expressions of affection towards the composer. “We thank in advance the solidarity and support of all those who join us in prayer. We will be reporting on the health status of maestro Iván Ovalle as soon as we have the medical report.”
For vallenato lovers, Ovalle is recognized as the 'King of the Unreleased Song' and his songs have been performed by singers such as Diomedes Díaz, the Zuleta brothers, Jorge Oñate, Binomio de Oro, Iván Villazón, among others.
His talent, sensitivity and poetry have marked a before and after in Colombian folklore, making him an essential figure in vallenato music. Throughout his career he has achieved hits such as : 'El amor es más grande que yo', 'Cristal de mis pupilas', 'Enamorada de mí' and 'La fuerza del amor'.
In 1983 he was the winner of the National Festival of Composers of San Juan del Cesar, La Guajira, and in 1994 he was crowned King of the Unpublished Song at the Vallenata Legend Festival in Valledupar.
The composer will be away from the stage for a few weeks while he recovers from surgery and many of his fans have left him multiple messages of encouragement.
