The Colombian dollar remains below 4,000 pesos on Friday with Next Day trading.
The dollar in Colombia remains below the 4,000-peso threshold, on a day marked by "Next Day" trading due to the Independence Day holiday in the United States.
According to data from the Colombian Stock Exchange, the US dollar is trading at an average price of 3,980 pesos this Friday, representing an increase of 6 pesos compared to the daily Representative Market Rate (TRM), certified at 3,974 pesos by the Financial Superintendency.
The change comes after the currency broke below the 4,000-peso threshold the previous day, when it registered a decrease of 32 pesos compared to the previous day.
So far in 2025, the US dollar has lost nearly 430 pesos against the Colombian peso, consolidating one of the most significant annual declines in the last decade.
This week, market analysts warned that the break below the 4,000-peso technical support mark marked a turning point in the peso's appreciation, driven by external factors such as the global weakness of the dollar, the recovery in oil prices, and increased investment flows to emerging economies.

How Next Day Operations Work
The behavior of the foreign exchange market this Friday is influenced by the commemoration of Independence Day in the United States. Due to the closure of international markets, foreign currency purchases and sales in Colombia are being carried out under the Next Day trading system.
This mechanism establishes that transactions are not settled on the same day, but rather one or two business days later, depending on the conditions agreed upon by the parties.
This means that if a trader makes a transaction this Friday, the currency will be delivered on Monday or Tuesday of the following week.
Using this scheme allows currency trading to continue during international holidays without interrupting the operation of the local market.
