Another alleged suspect in the kidnapping and murder of teacher and taxi driver Irma Hernández is arrested.


ÁLAMO TEMAPACHE, Veracruz (apro).- Three people have now been arrested for their alleged involvement in the disappearance and murder of Irma Hernández Cruz, a retired teacher and taxi driver in the municipality of Álamo Temapache, the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) reported.
The first suspects arrested, Víctor Manuel "N" and José Eduardo "N," were located in Cerro Azul, 43 kilometers from where the victim was last seen on July 18. Later, in a second operation, Jeana Paola "N" was arrested, also identified as a suspected member of the same criminal cell.
During the arrests, security forces seized firearms, ammunition, a knife, vehicles, cell phones, cash, marijuana-like weed, a crystal-like substance, and a notebook containing records of apartment collections.
The three detainees were placed at the disposal of the ministerial authority to determine their legal status.
Irma was found dead after being reported missing.
Irma Hernández Cruz, 62, worked as a teacher for more than four decades. After retiring, she drove taxi number 554 between the Estero del Ídolo Ejido and the municipal seat of Álamo. Her daughter reported her missing on July 18.
Three days later, a video began circulating on social media showing Irma kneeling, surrounded by armed and hooded men. In the video, she identifies herself and sends a message to the taxi drivers' union in northern Veracruz, related to toll collection.
The teacher's body was found on July 25 in a shack on a property far from the municipality. The preliminary forensic report indicates that the victim suffered violence and died of a heart attack caused by stress and the attacks.
