Javier Milei stated in Madrid that "in 2026, inflation in Argentina will be history."

President Javier Milei participated in the Madrid Economic Forum this Friday, where he gave an emphatic speech defending his government's economic direction. In front of an audience aligned with his ideology, the president asserted that inflation in Argentina will be "a thing of the past" by 2026 and highlighted the results of his adjustment plan.

During his speech, Milei emphasized that his administration achieved an unprecedented adjustment. “They said it was impossible to adjust GDP by five percentage points in one month. We did it. And today, Argentina is one of the five countries without a fiscal deficit,” he stated. According to the president, this balance in public finances will allow inflation to continue falling. “In May, we expect it to break 2%, and by 2026, it will be history,” he insisted.

Throughout her presentation, Milei forcefully defended her vision of the State. “The State is a criminal organization, and taxes are theft,” she declared. She also mentioned that her government has reduced the tax burden by two percentage points of GDP and that, if reelected, she will deepen that line. “We could return more than $500 billion to the Argentine people,” she promised.

The president also spoke about his campaign goals. “They told us it was impossible to meet them, but not only did we do it, we overachieved. Our model works because it is based on clear principles,” he stated. In this context, he insisted that the adjustment should fall on the public sector, not the private sector.

True to her confrontational style, Milei once again attacked journalism. “The media trash and corrupt journalists spread filthy news. We don't hate journalists enough,” she said. She also addressed the exchange rate controls: “They said I wouldn't dare to open the controls in an election year. We did. Today the exchange rate is trading closer to the bottom of the band.”

Another topic he addressed was the new scheme to allow the use of undeclared dollars in the economy. "We allowed good Argentinians to use their dollars in their transactions. Now we are innocent until proven guilty," he said.

The speech took place as part of his European tour, which already included stops in Italy and will continue through France and Israel. Javier Milei concluded his speech with a statement that generated strong reactions: "Against the shitty socialists, I will always be on your side." The statement once again placed the Argentine President at the center of international political debate.
