Key Agreement! Investment Approved for MTY-SP Interconnection

Monterrey, Nuevo León.- The mayor of San Pedro Garza García, Mauricio Fernández , welcomed the announcement of an investment by the state government for the road interconnection project between the two municipalities. This project seeks to alleviate traffic congestion and improve metropolitan mobility.
An important step has been taken toward the completion of one of the most anticipated road infrastructure projects in the Monterrey metropolitan area: the interconnection between the municipalities of Monterrey and San Pedro Garza García . Mayor Mauricio Fernández (San Pedro) publicly expressed his satisfaction with the Nuevo León State Government's decision to allocate investment for this project.
The project, which has been under discussion for several years and has faced various debates over its route and financing, is considered crucial for improving mobility in one of the busiest areas of the metropolis.
According to the statements collected, the mayor of San Pedro, Mauricio Fernández , highlighted the fundamental importance of the project in terms of mobility , emphasizing that it will help relieve the traffic that currently clogs roads such as the Loma Larga tunnel. For his part, the mayor of Monterrey noted that the interconnection will benefit not only the residents of Monterrey and San Pedro, but also the entire Metropolitan Area by facilitating transportation and reducing travel times.
In previous interviews about the project, Adrián de la Garza had noted that the interconnection is a "win-win" for Monterrey, since "it means connecting the area where the square meter is worth the least with the area where the square meter is worth the most," also suggesting a positive impact on real estate development and the added value of surrounding areas.

The need for better road connections between Monterrey and San Pedro, two of the most economically and residentially active municipalities in Nuevo León, has been a constant. The project has considered various alternatives over time, including elevated viaducts and even the possibility of a Metrocable system.
In 2016, San Pedro's Secretary of Urban Development, Fernando Garza , justified the project by stating that "this interconnection will alleviate the tunnel problem."
The political crisis that has affected Nuevo León in recent times, with tensions between the executive and legislative branches, has often complicated the approval of budgets and the execution of major infrastructure projects. The current announcement of state investment could be interpreted as a sign of progress and coordination for the benefit of the public.
"The first thing we need to say is that the city needs it. It's a win-win for Monterrey, because it means connecting the area where the square meter is worth the least with the area where the square meter is worth the most."
Although the mayors' celebration is a positive sign, details remain to be finalized regarding the exact timeline , construction phases , and the total amount of committed state investment . Projects of this magnitude often face technical, environmental, and social challenges that must be properly managed.
An example of the complexities that can arise is the uncertainty mentioned in “Trascendió Monterrey” about the Morones Prieto viaduct , which indicates that large road projects are always subject to multiple variables.
Citizens expect this investment to translate into a tangible improvement in mobility and that the project will be executed transparently and efficiently , minimizing disruptions during construction and maximizing long-term benefits for the entire metropolitan area.
