President Gustavo Petro orders expansion of security systems for opposition and government families

Following the attack on Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay in western Bogotá, and after learning of alleged threats against his youngest daughter and the children of all his ministers, President Gustavo Petro ordered the reinforcement of security measures for members of the opposition and the families of members of his government.
The president stated that he made this request at an extraordinary security council meeting held this Sunday in the Colombian capital.
" I have ordered the expansion of security systems for members of the opposition and for the families of members of the national government, in response to the new direct threats against the children of ministers and the president ," the head of state indicated in X.
Minutes earlier, on the same social network, he indicated that the threats against his daughter and the children of his cabinet could be related to the attack suffered by the presidential candidate of the Democratic Center.
"They just threatened a robot owner through the warehouse system, and all the children in my cabinet, including my daughter Antonella. This fact reinforces the hypothesis that the perpetrator of the murder is an enemy of the government," the president revealed last night.
Strengthening protection for the opposition responds in part to the call made by various sectors to strengthen the security of all political actors and allow for the exercise of democracy.
