The TSJC declares Borràs' sentence final and opens the process to execute the prison sentence

The Civil Criminal Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has declared the sentence of the former president of the Parliament and former president of Junts, Laura Borràs, final and has opened the process to execute the prison sentence, set at 4 and a half years.
In addition to this sentence, the TSJC imposed on Borràs 13 years of disqualification and a fine of 36,000 euros, for dividing up public contracts to award them to a friend when he directed the Institution of Catalan Letters (ILC), between 2013 and 2018.
In a ruling made public on Tuesday, the TSJC declared the finality of the sentence issued by the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court on February 10, 2025, in which it rejected the appeal filed by Borràs and two other convicts, and ordered “the corresponding enforcement proceedings to be initiated.”

In its ruling, the Supreme Court rejected the former Junts leader's request for an amnesty, meaning that the Catalan high court considers that there is no longer any recourse "either ordinary or extraordinary, except for review and constitutional protection"; in its ruling, the TSJC suggested a pardon due to the high sentence imposed.
The TSJC forwards the case to the defense attorneys of the convicted persons so that, within a period of ten days, they may formulate allegations on the circumstances of the execution of the sentences imposed and, once they have been presented or the period has expired, it will be forwarded to the public prosecution "for the same period and for the same purpose."
