Nequi launches a feature that transforms your cell phone into a data terminal: how it works and how you can enable the tool.
Nequi , one of the most popular financial platforms in Colombia, announced a new feature at the 59th Cartagena Banking Convention that will change the way transfers are made daily.
'Nequi Negocios' was announced as a project in partnership with Wompi that allows small businesses and entrepreneurs to accept debit and credit card payments directly from their cell phones, without the need for a physical payment terminal.

“ We're obsessed with leveraging and supporting the progress of the country's small businesses and entrepreneurs ; even more so when we know that more than 3.5 million Nequi users currently manage their business funds through our platform,” added Andrés Vásquez , CEO of Nequi.
In addition to cards, the new app will continue to operate with QR codes and, during its first three months on the market, will not charge transaction fees.
When does the new tool come into effect? The Nequi Negocios download is expected to be available in the second half of 2025. Additionally, starting June 5, 2025, Nequi began enabling the " My Business" button on the main screen of its app to create a waiting list of interested parties.
"We want merchants to be able to sell more thanks to this new solution we created with Wompi, because they'll have the ability to receive many forms of payment in one place : Nequi's QR Business, credit and debit card payments, generating payment links for sales made through social media, among others," said María del Pilar Correa, business strategy leader at Nequi.

- The first thing you need to do is open your regular app and look for the new ' My Business' button on the home screen.
- An "I'm interested" button will appear there to add you to the waiting list. Nequi will contact each user when the feature is activated in their account.
