MEXICO CITY (apro).- The rainy season will continue this Tuesday with very heavy rainfall, with intense rainfall of between 75 and 150 millimeters in nine states of the Republic, reported the National Meteorological Service (SMN).

In its forecast for June 24, the National Water Commission (Conagua) predicts heavy rains, with very heavy rainfall in nine other states, with the risk of landslides, flooding, and puddles.

Rain will continue throughout Monday night and Tuesday morning over much of the country, due to low-pressure channels over the Northern Mesa, center, northeast, east, and southeast of Mexico, interacting with atmospheric instability and the entry of moisture from the Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean Sea, coupled with a low-pressure area with the probability of cyclonic development, located south of the coast of El Salvador.

Heavy rains are forecast in Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Puebla, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Veracruz; very heavy rains in Nayarit, Hidalgo, the State of Mexico, Mexico City, Morelos, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo; heavy rains in Coahuila, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Querétaro, and Tlaxcala; and showers in Nuevo León.

Tropical wave number 5 has been absorbed by the circulation of the low pressure zone with a high probability of cyclonic development.

The monsoon-like circulation pattern over northwestern Mexico will generate heavy rainfall in Chihuahua and Durango, and very heavy rainfall in Sonora and Sinaloa.

All of the aforementioned rainfall will be accompanied by lightning and possible hail, in addition to reducing visibility on stretches of roads, causing puddles, landslides, flooding, and rising river and stream levels.

Likewise, strong gusts of wind in storm-prone areas could cause trees and billboards to fall.

Showers and heavy rain

Rainy weather will continue across much of the country on Tuesday, due to low-pressure channels over the Northern Mesa, center, northeast, east, and southeast of the country, interacting with a low-pressure center aloft, atmospheric instability, and the influx of moisture from both oceans. This is coupled with a low-pressure zone with the potential for cyclonic development south of Guatemala and the proximity of the monsoon trough.

Showers and heavy to very heavy rain are forecast for the aforementioned regions, as well as the Yucatan Peninsula, the west and south of the country, with occasional heavy rains in Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Puebla, Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Chiapas.

A monsoon-like circulation pattern will prevail over northwestern Mexico, maintaining the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rains accompanied by lightning and possible hail in that region, with occasional heavy rains expected in Chihuahua.

Finally, the hot to very hot weather will persist over entities in the northwest and north of Mexico, in addition to the Yucatan Peninsula, with temperatures above 40 °C in Baja California (northeast), Sonora (east and southeast), Chihuahua (northeast) and Sinaloa (north).

Valley of Mexico

Cloudy skies throughout the day. In the morning, cool and cold conditions will be expected in mountainous areas, along with fog and rain in parts of the region. During the afternoon, mild conditions will be expected with a chance of showers and heavy rain in Mexico City and heavy rain with very heavy rain in the State of Mexico.

The aforementioned rains could be accompanied by lightning, as well as cause puddles, landslides, flooding, and rising river and stream levels. Additionally, strong wind gusts in storm-affected areas could cause trees and billboards to fall.

The minimum temperature for Mexico City will be 13 to 15°C and the maximum will be 19 to 21 degrees. For Toluca, State of Mexico, a minimum temperature of 10 to 12°C and a maximum of 16 to 18 degrees is forecast. Winds from the east and northeast will be expected at 10 to 20 km/h (6 to 12 mph), with gusts of up to 40 km/h (25 mph) in stormy areas, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN) .
