University students from Colombia, Chile, and Argentina will compete to transform finance using artificial intelligence: how to participate

More than 500 student groups from Colombia, Chile, and Argentina are participating in the "Global Challenge," an initiative of Latin American fintech company Global66 that seeks to bring young people closer to the real challenges of the financial sector through the application of artificial intelligence (AI).

The call connects the university ecosystem with the fintech industry, encouraging the creation of viable and scalable solutions for the future of finance in Latin America. According to Tomás Bercovich, co-founder and CEO of Global66, the initiative aims to "bring to light the potential of young talent currently being trained in the classroom, providing them with a space to put their ideas into action and be part of the industry's transformation."
Strategic challenges Proposals must integrate the use of AI to address one of three strategic axes:
- Drive the company's regional growth through solutions applied to the user cycle (acquisition, activation, retention, or monetization).
- Design real-time fraud detection and prevention systems , ensuring fast and secure operations.
- Simplify international transfers , balancing convenience with financial education and maintaining user trust.
Each team, made up of five students in their final three years of college, has until September 10 to submit their proposal in a PDF document of up to five pages detailing the problem, AI application, expected impact, scalability, and success metrics.

The selected group will receive a three-month paid internship at Global66 to implement their solution. Additionally, its members will participate in a week of intensive work in Punta Cana, from November 23-30, during Global Weeks, an event that will bring together founders, executives, and investors from the industry.
The initiative is part of the growing importance of artificial intelligence in the country. A SAP study indicates that 69% of Colombian companies anticipate a significant impact of AI on their industries, a figure higher than the regional average.
Furthermore, 54% plan to increase their investment in this technology by 2025, reinforcing the need for talent prepared to lead this transformation.
“Our goal is to unleash the full potential of young talent currently being trained in classrooms, providing them with a space to put their ideas into action and be part of the industry's transformation while strengthening their professional skills, gaining experience, and expanding their network of contacts,” said Tomás Bercovich, the company's co-founder and CEO.
