Mexico women's team closes participation in the Pinatar Cup with victory

The Mexican Women's National Team finished its tour in Spain, where it played the Pinatar Cup, with an important victory against China by a score of 2-0, This was the first for the Mexicans in six matches that both teams have had.
After several years, the Aztecs were finally able to shake off the Asians' dominance over them. Since 2004, they had faced each other on five occasions, with three draws and two wins for the Chinese team.
At the start of the match, both teams limited themselves to analyzing their opponent to know where to go, generating a very balanced action, but it was in the 5th minute when Alice Soto took advantage of a defensive error, which originated in an attempted exit, to open the scoring from the penalty area.
Nearly ten minutes later, Lizbeth Ovalle doubled the lead on another mistake from China's exit, goalkeeper Xu Huan tried to clear the ball towards the center of the field, but El Tri immediately regained possession, leaving the Tigres forward alone in front of the goalkeeper to seal the Aztec victory.
With this result, Mexico leaves the Pinatar Cup with two wins and one loss, which occurred last Saturday against Canada. Its next matches will be in April, when it will face Jamaica in two friendly matches.
After almost two weeks without Liga MX Femenil, activity will return this Friday, February 28 with the duel between América vs Atlético de San Luis; while Chivas and Atlas will take to the field facing Tigres and Pumas, respectively, on Monday, March 3.
