Santa Fe was overcast at the Techo and lost to Fortaleza on Matchday 8 of the Betplay League.

Santa Fe suffered, experiencing one of those matches to forget. Fortaleza beat them 2-0 at Techo Stadium on Matchday 8 of the Betplay League. The Cardinals lost two men to expulsion. Everything went wrong.
Fortaleza started much better, controlling the ball and the action. Goalkeeper Marmolejo quickly realized he was going to have his work cut out for him. Emilio Aristizábal tested him, receiving the ball all alone, the center backs were distracted, but Marmolejo didn't let himself be caught out. He lay down and prevented the goal.
Santa Fe clouded over in Techo Fortaleza gave Santa Fe a tough first half. It wasn't that they were getting much forward control, but they weren't giving them the ball. They again caused trouble in the midfield with Valencia. Santa Fe watched their opponents play. The second half got off to a poor start for Santa Fe. They were unable to attack Fortaleza, but they weren't struggling either. But in the 66th minute, Marcelo Meli came up short, colliding directly with an opponent's leg and being sent off. Santa Fe was reduced to 10 players with time running out. That was the end of their resistance.

Fortaleza's first goal came in the 72nd minute, through Jonathan Marulanda. Santa Fe called for a penalty for an apparent foul on Mosquera, but referee Wílmar Roldán said no; it was offside. The nightmare wasn't over; Emmanuel Olivera also received a red card. Flórez was sent off in Fortaleza. And to top it all off, the home side's second goal came, with Sebastián Valencia's shot going in.
Santa Fe suffered its second defeat in the championship, and this time it left its performance in disrepair. Its next game will be against Once Caldas in Bogotá.
