Once again, a CONMEBOL tournament has been marred by fan-related incidents. This time, Lanús fans and police officers clashed in the stands of the Maracaná Stadium in Rio de Janeiro during halftime of the quarterfinal match between the Argentine club and Fluminense.
The incidents occurred during halftime and forced the second half of the match to be delayed for several minutes.

According to the Brazilian Military Police, the altercations stemmed from a fight between Lanús fans, which caused anxiety and running among the visiting fans.
The Brazilian police then intervened to calm the situation and reorganize the Lanús fans. It is still unknown whether anyone was injured in the clashes.
The Argentine club's players followed the events closely and spoke with the match's referee, Venezuelan Jesús Valenzuela.

Fluminense hosts Lanús this Tuesday in search of a spot in the Copa Sudamericana semifinals. At halftime, the Rio de Janeiro side led 1-0 thanks to a stunning goal from Uruguayan Agustín Canobbio. The first-leg result was 1-0 in favor of Lanús.
