William Carvalho passes the test and aims to be included in the Betis squad in mid-March

William Carvalho returned to training with the Real Betis first team last week in the final stretch of his physical recovery. His progress has been more than positive. He has taken great care in his rehabilitation work and also in his diet during the time he has been out of action since he tore his Achilles tendon in the match against Leganés at the Benito Villamarín last September. He underwent surgery and has been going through the stages of the process until today he underwent a test to see if he could be given the all-clear. The Portuguese has passed it, and when the medical services confirm it, he will be available to be part of the squad and be called up for the matches when Manuel Pellegirni considers it appropriate.
The fact is that two dates are already marked on the calendar for a possible return of William Carvalho, at least among those named for a league match. They are on Sunday 9th March against Las Palmas in Heliópolis or on the 16th of the same month against Leganés in Butarque. And the fact is that the 32-year-old Portuguese midfielder has been shortening dates and even exceeds the most optimistic perspectives that could be given recently about his return to the pitch and those two dates are already being considered.
«He has made a lot of progress. Luckily he doesn't feel any pain, he's quite confident. So he's already doing the first exercises with the squad. I think that as long as he works for the whole week he'll continue to progress. Dates? It's difficult, to be honest. I should ask the medical team more. But speculating, I think he should be there during the break», assured Pellegrini a few days ago, but this perspective seems to be able to be anticipated given that the aforementioned break is scheduled just after Leganés - Betis and before the derby in Heliópolis .
In this way, William Carvalho could help the Betis team in this final stretch of the season. The Portuguese is not registered in the Conference League since he left his place so that Isco could participate. Now he can start giving quality minutes in the midfield in competition with Marc Roca, Altimira, Johnny Cardoso, Fornals and Mateo . Carvalho's contract ends in June 2026.
