The agenda of the summit of world powers, which opens Monday in Canada, has been disrupted by the new front.

The calm of the Canadian Rockies will be helpful to the G7 leaders who are meeting there on Monday for what promises to be a delicate summit. Donald Trump's dramatic return to power, the race to slap tariffs , and the conflict in Ukraine have been compounded since Friday by open war between Israel and Iran. The risk of escalation of this confrontation and fears of a conflagration throughout the Middle East are disrupting the agenda developed by the host country and its Prime Minister, Mark Carney.

Officially, the summit's priorities remained the same, centered on energy policy, the trade war, and war itself. But the IDF's offensive has upended everything. The unofficial priority, however, has not changed. It is about controlling Donald Trump, who, since his return to the White House, has conscientiously attacked free trade, the order established since 1945, and his allies.
