Kid Cudi, pale replacement at Rock en Seine

Rock en Seine, which runs until Sunday, August 24, has not experienced such a setback in twenty years. Two days before the opening of its annual event in the Saint-Cloud area (Hauts-de-Seine), the festival learned that its second headliner for Thursday, August 21, rapper Doechii, winner of the Grammy for Best Rap Album of the Year, had canceled her appearance. In early July, it was ASAP Rocky who withdrew. Both of them also withdrew from their appearances at other European festivals. While ASAP Rocky was able to be replaced by another star, Kid Cudi, it was impossible for the organizers to find a solution in two days to compensate for the absence of the highly anticipated Doechii. In the aisles of Rock en Seine on Thursday evening, the atmosphere was far from festive, among both spectators and organizers.
"Whether from ASAP Rocky or Doechii, we have had explanations that are quite sibylline , concedes Matthieu Ducos, director of Rock en Seine. They gave us a reason for their cancellation, but I can't reveal it because the artists chose not to tell the public." This is not the first time that Rock en Seine, like many festivals, has been faced with cancellations. In 2024, The Smile, Thom Yorke's new band, canceled for health reasons in July, and the Pixies replaced him at short notice. In 2023, Florence and The Machine canceled ten days before their performance, and the Californian hip-hop group, Cypress Hill, took over .
