According to a source at the Paris police headquarters, a vehicle hit three people on a street perpendicular to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, where many supporters had gathered to celebrate their club's promotion to the Champions League final. It is unclear at this stage whether this was an intentional act. According to the same source, the injured were treated, one as an absolute emergency, the other two as a relative emergency.
The vehicle was then allegedly set on fire on Avenue Marceau, near the Champs-Élysées, before exploding, according to videos posted on social media. An AFP journalist observed a car on fire on this avenue, and another AFP journalist saw a Paris city hall vehicle set on fire on another street, also near the Champs-Élysées.
Earlier in the evening, fans without tickets for the Champions League semi-final had converged on the stadium. Despite some street disturbances, the evening was relatively calm, marked only by a few police interventions to disperse the crowd and restore traffic flow at Porte de Saint-Cloud. As of 1:30 a.m., according to police sources, the total number of arrests had risen to 19.
