Agnès Limbos, the object gatherer who brings the inanimate to life, on the BIAM poster

From what we can see in a video found here and there on the Internet, the studio of actress and director Agnès Limbos, located in Rhode-Saint-Genèse, in the suburbs of Brussels, looks very much like an Ali Baba's cave, where precious stones and other riches have been replaced by objects gleaned from flea markets and markets. We would have loved to be able to meet her in this creative space, to better immerse ourselves in the special atmosphere that must reign there.
But a remote interview still allowed us to learn a little more about the journey of an artist who began her career in the 1970s. First on the road, with various companies in Belgium, France, Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Then with her own company, the Compagnie Gare Centrale, founded in 1984 in Brussels.
A funny name for a theater troupe? Agnès Limbos explains: "Actually, I really don't like company names that require a metaphor. In 1984, I wanted to sign up for a youth theater festival. But I needed a company. So I decided to create one. I was living near the Central Station in Brussels at the time, and I love stations. I often took trains without knowing where I was going, I love that, the station buffets, the platforms, the whole atmosphere. I also thought a little about the Café de la Gare in Paris , with Romain Bouteille. And I didn't want just my name either, because I always work with other people, it's a collective."
