Besançon. 200,000 objects preserved for museums: a visit to the depths of the reserves

We follow her through the building's wide corridors, past wooden crates of all sizes waiting, lined up against the walls, for a work to be transported. Charlotte Maillard, general manager of the art museums and the center, guides us through the floors and rooms. We are in the heart of the reserves. There, the collections of the two city center museums are kept—the Museum of Fine Arts and Archaeology and the Museum of Time—as well as those of the study and conservation library. Almost 2,000 m², where more than 200,000 objects are stored: paintings, drawings, furniture, sculptures, and artifacts.
