Bouvard on the right foot, on the right eye in an interview to watch on TV5 Monde and listen to on RTL

Philippe Bouvard has decided to retire from his professional career after a career spanning seven short decades. He shared his final televised secrets with his colleague and friend Cyril Viguier. This exceptional talk will be broadcast on the global channel TV5 Monde and RTL radio, so dear to his heart.
From his apartment in Cannes, the 95-year-old creator and former host of Les Grosses Têtes returns, with his characteristic mischievous elegance, to the great figures who have marked his life. "From René Coty to General de Gaulle, from Mitterrand to Sarkozy, including Giscard, whom I suspect of having given me a tax audit, I have seen them all up close," he confides mischievously. His caustic gaze also extends to the French icons he has rubbed shoulders with: Brigitte Bardot, Alain Delon, Charles Aznavour, Jacques Martin... So many encounters, anecdotes, and stories that are sometimes tender, often piquant.
Cyril Viguier, who usually leads political interviews (notably Face aux Territoires on TV5 Monde in partnership with the Nice-Matin group), gives us a very intimate interview here. In his eyes, this show is "first and foremost a matter of personal friendship, for Philippe and his wife Colette. It is also a tribute to a professional who has never stopped practicing with a crazy modernity."
During the interview, Philippe Bouvard also talks about his addictions, his love of gambling and, frankly, his relationship with death. A rare introspection. "I wanted to convince him that he can continue!" jokes Cyril Viguier. "I told him that Edgar Morin is still giving lectures at 103, that Paul Biya, 92, was a candidate for his succession as President of the Republic of Cameroon and that I knew many young people in political and journalistic circles who were much older than him!" An exchange tinged with admiration and tenderness with a man who, for Cyril Viguier, "embodies the French spirit, a unique way of looking at the world" .
TV5 Monde will share this French spirit with the whole world through this interview broadcast in 200 countries. "This will allow the entire French-speaking world to see who Philippe Bouvard is, " notes Cyril Viguier . "His contribution to our language, to our values, to our way of looking at things in a very particular way in France. And then his grandson who lives in California will be able to see that his grandfather is doing well!" Denis Carreaux
Broadcast on TV5 Monde this May 3 at 8:30 a.m., then on May 6 (12:30 p.m.), 10 (8:30 a.m.) and 13 (12:20 p.m.).
