During a masterclass shared with filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, with whom he won an Oscar for The Shape of Water , French composer Alexandre Desplat, who wrote the music for two films in competition this year, revealed some of his filmmaking secrets on Sunday, May 18. Piano in hand.
"The first time I met Alexandre Desplat, he really impressed me. He was the first film composer I'd worked with who actually looked like a composer!"
