Creutzwald. "High School Frivolities": A musical comedy about politics brings students together on stage this Tuesday

The fourth edition of "Frivolités lycéennes" will be launched on Tuesday, May 5th at the Baltus Hall in Creutzwald! On stage, nearly a hundred students from the Félix-Mayer high school and the Bergpfad middle school in Ham-sous-Varsberg will combine music, song, theater, and dance in a musical comedy on the theme of... politics . Ambitious, you might say? But just like the teachers who run the event and, every year now, embark on this major project alongside these students who are also returning for another edition.

This Monday, all the participants in the event met for a first rehearsal in real conditions, whereas until then, each group had been working in its own field.

“This project is a huge amount of work. Just for the dance part, it's 50 hours of training, outside of school hours,” emphasizes PE teacher Dominique Jacquemin. Alongside choreographer Michèle Meftah, she designed the movements of the young dancers who took their commitment to the troupe to heart. “It's an incredible investment. And the results are there. We have middle school girls from 6th to ^9th grade, as well as high school girls from 10th to 12th grade. They all helped each other, challenged each other. We saw something very beautiful emerge.”

More generally, whether it's dance, singing, music, or theater, it's also a way to allow students to develop differently, outside of the school walls. "Some aren't particularly academic and reveal themselves on stage. I tell myself every time that we don't do this for nothing..."

Like Chloé, in her final year of high school. This is her third year of high school. And hopefully her last. She'll play one of the lead roles in the theater section. "I love being on stage. Playing someone. Expressing myself, but in someone else's shoes." However, "I'm not really comfortable speaking in class. I struggle with presentations." Alongside her, Timéo, in her first year of high school, is already fluent in speaking. "For this project, we collaborated with professionals. We started with improvisation, and from there, we put together the show."

Everyone agrees: "The experience is exceptional." Now all that's left is to convince the public. Join us this Tuesday, May 6th and Wednesday, May 7th at 8 p.m. at the Baltus Hall. A few tickets are still available for purchase (€14).
