Dordogne: Corsican songs from Vox Corsica will resonate in the village church
From the church which overlooks the entire town, Corsican songs will resonate with Vox Corsica, Saturday June 7, in the 12th century church.
Originally from Sartenais on the Isle of Beauty, Vox Corsica, two tenors, two Martin baritones and a bassist, conveys all the nuances of polyphonic singing. On Saturday, June 7, they will offer nearly an hour and a half of sacred and secular songs from the oral tradition of shepherds' songs, traditional paghjellas composed of six verses of eight syllables where the rhythm recreated with each word generates a subtle poetry.
Powerful voices and a unique styleThe audience will be able to stand up for the famous "Cantu in Paghjella," listed since 2009 as a UNESCO Intangible Heritage traditional song. Through its songs, Vox Corsica revisits all the stories of love, revenge, and daily life that still make Corsica so special.
