Everything you need to know about the Moon Festival expected this summer in the Var

An additional evening in the Clair-Val auditorium, a 10-meter screen and 5.1 sound to enhance the quality of the experience. Two previews, one of which is jealously guarded under the seal of secrecy, which will close the event: the Festival de la Lune in Carqueiranne, a cycle of open-air film screenings, raises the level and quality of the performance offered to the public during the summer by a notch this year again. This is possible, of course, with the support of these numerous partners – including the city, the Les Petits Écrans network led by Luc Benito, among others – and the commitment of the volunteers of the Quattrocento association, in charge of the organization, Alix Ferrari, artistic director of the event and president of the Quattrocento association, did not fail to emphasize.
1. The new partner conservatoryBetween arthouse films and US blockbusters (Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning on July 8 or the new Superman – national release on July 9 – for the traditional costume party on August 12), this 5th edition, under the theme of "Love and Music", will take place every Tuesday during the summer between July 1 and August 26, and will be punctuated by highlights other than cinema.
An example starting July 1st (Mayor Arnaud Latil's Evening) is Jennifer Devoldère's Le Panache . This dramatic comedy, led by José Garcia, tells the story of how a teenager overcomes his stutter through theater. The screening will be preceded at 7:30 p.m. by a concert by students from the TPM metropolitan conservatory.
2. Two evenings in the vineyardsHere too, the moment is much appreciated: the open-air screenings at Château La Tulipe Noire in La Moutonne. The giant screen moves to set up among the vines for this special moment. Two evenings are scheduled this summer, with the July 11 screening of the documentary "Once Upon a Time Michel Legrand" by David Hertzog. The director will also be present. The screening will be preceded by a concert by jazz students from the TPM metropolitan conservatory.
The following day, Wednesday, July 12, the evening will be dedicated to transmission, with a pre-screening lecture by the Baccino family. Alain Baccino, the estate's owner, and his daughter Audrey, among others, will discuss the generations of winegrowers before the screening of Cédric Klapisch's film Ce qui nous lie, starring Pio Marmaï, Ana Girardot, and François Civil.
3. The competing comediesEach year, the festival sets itself the task of inviting the public to vote for their favorite film. This year, a jury of professionals will be tasked with deciding between the comedies screened throughout the summer. Didier Ferrari and Denis Braccini, both actors—they are among Eric Fraticelli's loyal members—will be joined by Ghislaine Toche, president of the Carqueiranne association Les Ours Blancs. "Each year, a different association will join the jury," Alix Ferrari explained. The awards ceremony will take place on August 26, the final evening of the festival, and will precede the closing film, the name of which remains unknown. All we know is that it will be a premiere, festival director Alix Ferrari promises. Among the comedies in competition, Comme des riches by Amin Harfoush, starring Philippe Katerine and Simon Abkarian, will have its premiere on Tuesday, July 15.
On July 22, it's Avignon by Johann Dionnet with comedians Baptiste Lecaplain and Alison Wheeler in particular,
Marilou Berry and Isabelle Nanty are featured in Doux Jésus, a comedy by Frédéric Quiring showing on July 29.
4. Director Jean-Pierre Améris at the meetingHe came two years ago to present a preview of Marie-Line and her judge , one of Michel Blanc's last roles: a regular at Carqueiranne and the festival, Jean-Pierre Améris will be present on August 5, for the screening of his new film Aimons-nous vivants , with Gérard Darmon and Valérie Lemercier.
Another regular at the event, will Gérard Jugnot be there this summer? The answer will be on August 19th, during the screening of his new film Y'a pas de réseau, a comedy by Edouard Pluvieux, also starring Maxime Gasteuil.
5. Short films in the spotlightIt's a first: an evening dedicated to short films on Wednesday, August 6, a resumption of the 18th Mediterranean Short Film Nights Festival with France Télévision and the Corsican community and a carte blanche to the Pinte et Ciné collective, which brings together professionals in the industry around the love of cinema.
6. Discover the behind the scenes of filmingThis will be possible with the photographic exhibition by Michel Brussol. Michel Brussol is the director of the Var Film Commission. Every year, he visits one of the many film shoots—series, feature-length or short films, commercials, etc.—that take place in the department to meet the crews and, if necessary, take photos. His perspectives on the shoots will be presented through the exhibition "Le Var en tournage, l'envers du décor" (The Var in Filming, Behind the Scenes), which can be seen on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Clair-Val exhibition hall. An exhibition presented by the Departmental Media Library.
