A series of historical and contemporary exhibitions throughout the Lille metropolitan area, on view until November 9, recalls the power of these moments of jubilation in the construction of the social body.
Seated in a circle, musicians play samba rhythms. Around them, the audience, standing, sways their hips and claps along to certain choruses. Mauricio Dias and Walter Riedweg filmed this moment when a human community comes together in dance with a whirling "cameracycle." Projected onto a series of screens that literally encircle the visitor at the Espace Croisée in Roubaix, their "samba round" sets the tone for the 7th edition of Lille3000, this year dedicated to the "Fiesta."
