More than 450 of David Lynch's personal belongings to be auctioned soon
Furniture, musical instruments, ties, stuffed deer heads... Hundreds of objects belonging to the American filmmaker and artist, who died in January, will be offered for sale on June 18, online and in Beverly Hills.
Three scripts used on the set of "Mulholland Drive."

David Lynch died on January 16, 2025, in Los Angeles as the city was ablaze and the air became unbreathable. Diagnosed with emphysema in 2020, Lynch reportedly died of a heart attack after being evacuated from his home, which was threatened by the fires. Less than six months later, more than 450 items belonging to the Twin Peaks author are on display for an auction scheduled for June 18 via a website and at Julien's Auction in Beverly Hills.

It's a somewhat mind-boggling unpacking for those who think that all this could or should have remained in the possession of his relatives and become a potential museum for one of the most eminent artistic figures of the last fifty years. On the other hand, the brotherhood of Lynch admirers with some savings or who have lost all sense of proportion, will find there the opportunity to satisfy their fetish by browsing a list of disparate objects from the filmmaker's residence located not far from Mulholland Drive , a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright to which he had added two others, designed by himself. At once a living space, a recording and editing studio, an artist's workshop from which he rarely left, we can see through this sale all that Lynch had accumulated there over the years, while remaining a marginal figure in Hollywood if we are willing to distinguish between his international notoriety and the type of films he made , incommensurable with contemporary directors like the Coen brothers, Quentin Tarantino or David Fincher.

Musical instruments, megaphones, furniture, mini fans, book collections, scripts for the never-made film "Ronnie Rocket" or Lost Highway (with annotations), numerous coffee machines, posters, ties, a suitcase used to go to Cannes for the presentation of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, original copies of Eraserhead or Inland Empire, menus from Winkie's restaurant on Mulholland Drive, two stuffed deer heads and Lynch's personal chair with his name on it from the sets (one of them, at least). The last bid on this piece is $7,000 (€6,200) but you also have an ironing board for $75.
