Oasis concert: Man dies after fall at Wembley Stadium

A mournful spectacle. A man in his forties died on the evening of Saturday, August 2, after falling during an Oasis return concert at Wembley Stadium in London, police announced in a statement on Sunday. According to a spokesperson, police officers, medics, and paramedics present at the scene were mobilized around 10:19 p.m., "following reports that a person had been injured."
"A man in his forties was discovered with injuries consistent with a fall. He was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene," the police added. "The stadium was packed," they also stressed, calling on spectators who witnessed the incident to provide any useful information.
In a statement released by the BBC, brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher said they were "shocked and saddened" by the news, sending their "deepest condolences to the family and friends" of the victim.
"Our thoughts are with the family" of the fan, a Wembley Stadium spokesperson said. Oasis' next concert at the stadium, on Sunday evening, the day after the tragedy, was still on. It was the last of a series of seven London dates, a few weeks after the band reformed in early July after a sixteen-year split.
The iconic Britpop duo have scheduled 41 dates worldwide for their comeback tour, with some 900,000 tickets sold. They have already played in Cardiff and their hometown of Manchester. The Gallagher brothers will then head to Edinburgh, Scotland, before an international tour that will take them to the United States, Japan, Australia, and Brazil.
