Autun. Harvest: seasonal positions, transport included with Cilef

“Some people are spotted during the harvest and end up staying in the wineries permanently,” says Brigitte Beaufaron, director of Cilef (Local Information Center on Employment and Training) . Since 2019, the harvest operation has been connecting “wineries and job seekers.” Eight wineries are participating in the operation this year, “in Couchois, Maranges, and the nearby Côte-d'Or.” The motto of the operation: “Remove barriers to mobility. Minibuses are made available, thanks to the wineries and the city. We organize carpooling trips when possible. For those who have a license but no car, we help them rent one, at a lower cost, via the Mobigam platform . » Last year, the operation provided employment for "59 people, knowing that, when the schedule allows, a harvester can work on several estates." And for winegrowers, "it's turnkey," emphasizes Brigitte Beaufaron.
"Mobility is the central problem." Of the 52 currently registered, fewer than one in five have a driving license and fewer than one in 25 have a car. Six dedicated recruitment sessions have already taken place since the beginning of July, but "it is still possible to register with Cilef. It's a huge organizational task for us. There are various positions , and affinities, particularly geographical, to organize transportation as best as possible. We adapt to each person's profiles and autonomy. Every year, it goes very well, which motivates us to continue." The shortage of wine-growing labor almost everywhere in France is filled thanks to the contribution of foreign workers . The sector is no exception: "There are Serbian, Congolese, Lebanese, Iraqi, and even Sudanese workers," lists Brigitte Beaufaron. On the other hand, most estates are reluctant to hire minors, "they find it too complicated in terms of regulations ." The start of the harvest is currently planned for Monday, August 25.
NOTE - Registration is still possible at Cilef, 1 rue des Pierres in Autun. Bring ID, a social security card and your driving licence if applicable.
