The energy performance diagnosis is about to evolve, taking into account rising temperatures. New criteria could be taken into account as early as 2026.

What if the energy performance diagnosis (DPE) took heat into account in homes? In a house in Camplong, Hérault, an expert is carrying out a DPE , currently assessing the home's consumption in winter. But it does not take into account the impact of high temperatures.

However, while the owner admits to reaching "27, 28 degrees" when the mercury rises outside, she does not want to undertake work to comply with a heat-protection diagnosis. "It won't add anything," she believes. With rising temperatures, the Ministry of Housing is considering incorporating new evaluation criteria into the energy diagnosis. By 2026, this could take into account the ceiling height of your home, its orientation, ventilation, or even the presence of shutters.

According to the Foundation for Housing the Disadvantaged, half of French people live in thermal boilers.
