Lorraine. Emmanuel Macron visits Ligny-en-Barrois, in the Meuse region, this Monday.

Ahead of the 8th Choose France Summit scheduled for Monday, May 19, at the Château de Versailles, Emmanuel Macron will visit the Daimler Buses factory in Ligny-en-Barrois, in the Meuse region, on the same morning.
According to the schedule, the President of the Republic is due to arrive at 11:10 a.m. He will visit the German bus manufacturer's production line before delivering a speech.
The choice of this factory, which is the largest employer in the department, is justified: it "constitutes a strong symbol of the policy of reindustrialization, economic sovereignty and ecological transition led by the President of the Republic since 2017," justifies the Élysée.
In April 2023, Daimler Buses confirmed a €50 million investment by 2030 for its Ligny site. The investment includes adapting production lines for mixed production of diesel and electric models, as well as the construction of an additional building to carry out all quality and finishing activities. It also involves making certain painting work possible thanks to innovative technology. A new leak testing facility is also being added.
To meet its needs, the company wanted to expand. The first phase of this expansion is underway.

This dynamism has a positive effect on employment: after the creation of 150 positions between 2022 and 2024, 200 additional ones are planned , particularly in the mechanical, electrical and electrical engineering sectors.
Some 2,000 Citaro buses leave the workshops each year, a capacity that has steadily increased in recent years. While initially only combustion engine models were produced, electric models (eCitaro) have been produced there since last year following the electrification of its production line.
"The site's shift towards the production of hybrid and electric buses, the modernization of production lines, and the integration of circular economy principles illustrate the President of the Republic's desire to build a low-carbon, innovative, and sovereign economy."
