MaPrimeRénov' will reopen on September 30 for comprehensive renovations, but only for very low-income households.

The Ministry of Housing told Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Tuesday, July 22, that the MaPrimeRénov' application window for global energy renovation aid would reopen on September 30, after a summer suspension , but only for a maximum of 13,000 new applications by the end of the year and with modified rules.
Initially, only very low-income households will be able to apply for the grant, the ministry said, and it will "perhaps" later expand the window to low-income households "depending on the dynamics of new applications." It has not ruled out suspending the system again if the quota of 13,000 applications is exceeded before the end of the year.
According to the ministry, the MaPrimeRénov' budget and the overall energy renovation targets will be exceeded in 2025: there are 61,000 applications for aid from the scheme to be reviewed, in addition to the 35,000 subsidies already granted since the beginning of the year. The €3.6 billion budget will therefore be spent in full. Applications that do not fit into this envelope will be charged to the 2026 budget, "subject to the vote on the finance law," including new applications submitted between September and December.
5,000 proven cases of fraudThe State is also tightening the conditions for granting subsidies to "allow the financing of a greater number of projects" , in "a context of increased budgetary constraints" .
The ceiling for work, on which the subsidy percentage is calculated, is lowered from €70,000 to €30,000 for renovations that allow for two energy classes to be gained and to €40,000 for jumps of three classes in the energy performance diagnosis (DPE). MaPrimeRénov' aid will be reserved for the most energy-intensive homes (rating E, F or G in the DPE). The subsidy bonus for moving out of the energy sieve category (rating F or G) is eliminated.
These criteria will apply from September 2025 and will be maintained in 2026, even if the quota of subsidies to be granted annually and the opening of the window to households with middle and higher incomes remain "open to discussion" within the framework of the 2026 budget, the ministry also stressed.
Regarding fraud, which was one of the reasons for the suspension of the new application window between June and September, the government has detected 5,000 proven cases of fraud in MaPrimeRénov' grant applications for comprehensive renovations and will reject these applications. The government reported in June that 16,000 applications were suspected of fraud.
