MaPrimeRénov: Do we pack up, do we restart, do we pause? After ten days of stalling, outcry from the sector, and back-and-forth between Macron and his government, the office of Housing Minister Valérie Létard returned to the suspension of the energy renovation aid scheme on Monday, June 16, ahead of a consultation meeting with industry stakeholders on Tuesday morning.

As no one had apparently anticipated the uproar that followed the first leaks of information to the media in early June, concessions had to be made, particularly in the face of a furious construction sector that promised demonstrations with "vans, construction equipment, trucks bigger than tractors," according to Olivier Salleron, president of the French Building Federation (FFB). The most significant of these backpedals was revealed by Le Parisien just before the minister's entourage could announce it directly: the suspension will ultimately only concern major renovations, and no longer isolated works,
